Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

 

A few years back, one of my assistant principles came to me and asked if I would be interested in joining the newly forming PBIS team. Being very confused, but willing to help, I asked a few questions and jumped on board.

 

PBIS is a system designed to provide tiered levels of support to a school system in order to promote positive behaviors and address less than positive student activities. As part of this team, I have been able to work with my colleagues to develop strong programs that provide universal (tier 1) and specialized group (tier 2) supports throghout the building. Specialized individual (tier 3) supports are still a work in progress. 

 

The team and a group of student volunteers also developed a promotional video to communicate our purpose and model some expected behaviors.
